Fake Bake: 60 Minutes Self-Tan Liquid

Thursday, February 7, 2013
A few weeks ago, I was contacted by a fairly new blog Beauty and Lifestyle Blog, to be a contributor! I was so so so excited because we all know that I love talking beauty, and I was honored that I was even thought of to be a part of it. Be sure to head over to Beauty and Lifestyle Blog, check it out, follow it, and show it some love! Continue to look out for posts from me on there as well.

I was sent Fake Bake’s 60 Minutes Self-Tan Liquid, which is a new addition to the Fake Bake line, to test out. Being the extremely pasty girl that I am, I was thrilled! I’ve always wished that I was one of those people who tan easily, or that I was born with a natural gorgeous tan. Alas, I wasn’t, so I rely on self tanners, bronzers, and tanning beds during the summer months.
Straight from the Fake Bake website : A revolutionary, express, self tan liquid which develops into a beautiful, natural looking tan in 60 minutes. Easy to apply with our “shows where it goes” color guide, the tanning agents - dihydroxyacetone and erythulose are activated upon contact with the skin. Accelerators speed up the development time and a golden glow can be achieved in an hour. To achieve an even darker tan, there’s no need to re-apply, simply leave 60 Minutes on longer then rinse off the color guide to reveal the tan. We do not recommend leaving on any longer than three hours. This light weight, fast drying formula is non-sticky and does not clog the pores.
One thing just from reading the box that impressed me was the fact that it’s buildable. If you leave it on for just an hour, you’re left with a “golden tan”. You can leave it on for two hours to get a “bronze tan”, and three hours to get a “dark” tan.

Application is simple and easy! The color guide is a deep brown, almost black color, which helps you see exactly where the tanner is going and prevent streaking. It is paraben free, safe to use on your face and the lightweight formula won't clog your pores. The liquid also dries quickly, and I was able to get dressed minutes after applying it.

The tanner takes a day to fully develop. I was actually disappointed after my first application, because my color didn't change at all, and I thought that I had applied it incorrectly. When I woke up the next morning, I had a beautiful tan!

Here are some additional pictures, because I was enjoying staring at my tan:

Color-wise, I was taken from a "Classic Ivory" shade to a "Nude/Beige". If you want to get technical, in the before picture, I am a MAC NC15 and in the after I am an NC30. I am very happy with the my results, and will continue to use Fake Bake's 60 Minute Self-Tan Liquid as my go to self tanner!

    1. It's extremely easy to apply! The dark color guide helps you to see where you have already placed the product. The mitt also helps to blend it all in!

  7. Looking gorgeous, the tan really suits your skin tone. A nice olive tone to it. It looks like a real sun tan but obviously much safer. Is there any smell when it develops?

    1. It actually smells like coconuts when you apply it! I did notice after rinsing the product off that I was left with a very faint "self tanner" smell, but that went away after I showered! :)
