My Skincare Routine : UPDATED

Wednesday, October 30, 2013

You can read my previous skin care routine, that I posted over a year ago, here! All of the products mentioned in that post are still completely relevant…they are amazing products, and if you’re wanting to try them, I still completely recommend them! My skin has changed somewhat since that post, though, and I had to start a different routine. Let’s just say I’ve become much more breakout prone…

I still remove my makeup with the Sonia Kashuk Makeup Remover, you can read my review here. I just decided not to picture it this time, because it’s not skincare.

Once I have completely removed my makeup, I slather some Trader Joe’s Organic Virgin Coconut Oil on to my face. You can read my post on 10 Ways to Add Coconut Oil to Your Beauty Routine here. I scoop some straight out of the jar, add a little water to my hands and rub together, then apply it all over my face in circular motions. I let it sit for just a minute, so my face has time to absorb it. I find that this leaves my face and neck extremely smooth and soft to the touch, and it sounds craaazy, but my skin acts up so badly when I don’t use it. The texture of my skin has changed drastically since using it, and breakouts are minimal.

With the Coconut Oil still doing it’s thing on my face, I get a small amount of Olay Fresh Effects Bead Me Up Exfoliating Cleanser onto my hands and rub all over my face, right over the coconut oil. While this product has been featured in some monthly favorites post, I haven’t reviewed it yet! Which shocked me, when I was scrolling through looking for the reference post. I’ll give a brief review now since this has been my go-to facial cleanser, twice a day, for the past several months. It is best for normal to oily skin. While it’s an exfoliating cleanser, it is gentle, so I am able to use it everyday without worrying that it will be too harsh or over drying on my skin. The formula is rich and creamy with tiny exfoliating grains, it somewhat resembles salt in texture, as opposed to those “exfoliating beads” found in several other cleansers. I love how clean it makes my face feel, and it has kept my breakouts at bay. It’s by far one of my favorite exfoliating cleansers that I’ve used.

Once I’ve cleansed and dried off my face, I apply the Nyakio Hydrating Facial Oil With Kola Nut. You can read my review on this product here. I’m still loving this! I concentrate on my under eye area, as well as around my mouth, where “laugh lines” would commonly appear.

Skincare can be extremely simple, once you find what works best for you and your skin type! There’s no need to use a plethora of products every single day. Simplicity is best!

Let me know if you try any of these products and love them. Also, if you’ve posted a skin care post, I’d love to read it!

  1. Love a simple skincare routine! I've been trying to change my lazy habits and start taking care of my face more. I recently purchased coconut oil and tonight was my second night using it on my skin so hopefully I see a difference soon! I'm interested in the Olay cleanser (the one I'm using by Neutrogena is way too harsh) but can you use it without an electronic brush to massage onto your face? I feel like most cleansers nowadays requires a brush to "deep clean" your face.

  4. I tried that Olay stuff when it came in my Influenster box, I was thinking that maybe I should get a big thing of it.

I love using coconut oil on everything, so I definitely agree with that.

    Thanks for this post!
